Parish House - Hoie Hall
Back in 2002 the parish was facing a daunting task. Our parish house - a temporary building that lasted for 50 years, was falling apart around our feet. Under the rectorship of the Rev. Darwin Price, we began to vision the future for St. Luke's. The parish came together and decided that we could and would raise the necessary funds to tear down the old facility and build a new hall for the future of the parish.
Over the ensuing years over $5 million was raised by the parish to build a state of the art facility - a building to house the church offices, classrooms for Sunday School and Adult Christian Education, meeting rooms for the parish and the local community, and a parish hall that would invite the community to enter and enjoy.
St. Luke's Parish was remembered in the estate of local artist and parishioner Claus Hoie. His final remembrance was a substantial gift enabling the parish to dedicate the main hall to Claus and his wife Helen. In the fall of 2009, we dedicated Hoie Hall itself with the former rector, the Rev. Darwin Price present to participate and join in the festivities as we finished construction on the building that he was so integral in helping to plan. The Parish House was officially blessed dedicated in May 2010 by the Bishop of Long Island, Bishop Lawrence Provenzano, with our present rector, the Rev. Denis Brunelle.
This space is where the congregation gathers for our Annual Meeting, Sunday Coffee Hour, congregational dinners and entertainment. Hoie Hall also is a welcome addition to the arts and music scene of East Hampton. Pianofest holds recitals here each summer. A new program "Music at St. Luke's" keeps the music flowing in the fall and winter times.
Hoie Hall is a gathering place for receptions held after baptisms, weddings and funerals. The pictures to the right are from a reception held at St. Luke's. The hall is decorated wonderfully displaying the beauty of our space. Hoie Hall is available for receptions when services (baptisms, funerals and weddings) are held at St. Luke's church.
Please join us at St. Luke's for any of our events.
